The Vif d’Or is the third and smallest ball used in Quidditch. It is a golden sphere the size of a walnut, with silver wings. It flies at high speed around the Quidditch field, occasionally stopping and settling into place. The catcher’s objective is to catch the snitch before the other team’s catcher, worth 150 points. The game can only end when the Snitch has been caught, or by mutual agreement of the captains of the two teams; the latter case is very rare, however, as one team would have to lose.
